Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.I shot this picture from the 8th floor of Children's Hospital in Aurora, Colo. just now. My blue solar-charged, all-electric Chevy Bolt (roughly in the center of the photo) is dwarfed by the SUVs and pick-up trucks that are parked right next to it.
Thanks to the continued, massive burning of fossil fuels, our house, the earth, is literally on fire, as the Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg noted almost two years ago .
I have been doing a lot to reduce my direct burning of, and support of, fossil fuels over the past decade. However, I've still got a ways to go, and I hoping to get to zero direct use of fossil fuels within the next five years.
I am a lifelong and committed environmental activist. And I have done many different things to both reduce my environmental impact and to raise environmental awareness and effect political change to protect the environment -- and human health.
Not all electric car advocates are motivated by environmentalism. But I am one of those greenie advocates! If we could not power electric cars with 100 percent renewable energy I would have no interest in electric cars. Seriously, none whatsoever!
As the graphic above indicates, "cheap" fossil fuels are no such thing. In fact, fossil fuels are extremely expensive -- although their front-end price does not reflect this.
