You actually don't need that much solar on your home, garage, in your yard etc. to produce enough electricity to fuel an EV 100 percent with solar.
Charging your EV with home solar is a three-step process ==>
1) Install a solar system on your home.
2) Buy an EV or PHEV.
3) Plug it in.
Many years ago, I wrote extensively on this web site/blog about the many intricacies and complexities of what I call "solar offset" charging of an electric vehicle vs. directly filling up with electricity that has been/is being produced directly by a (home rooftop) solar system connected to the same electrical box into which an EV charger and/or the wall-socket into which you're plugging your EV into.
I've been driving a leased 2017 Chevy Bolt LT since Sept. 2017. It's been a great little car: Zippy, fun, quiet, fuel efficient. It's got plenty of range (238 miles), including enough range for a 2,400-mile round-trip road trip I did with my teen daughters from Denver to Santa Barbara, Calif. and back in the Summer of 2018.
