So, let’s say you’ve got a new solar-charged driving set-up: an electric car + home solar and you’re looking to let the world know just how great it is to be Driving on Sunshine. How can you do that?
One of the best ways to promote solar-charged driving, I think, is to put a vanity/custom license plate on your car. This announces to the world that you are using solar power to charge your car’s batteries. It also promotes solar and electric cars, and can generate conversation as well, which it has in my case, with my Colorado vanity plate, which reads SOLPWRD.
I’ve had SOLPWRD Colorado for five years. But, in retrospect, I would have preferred SOL PWR or SOLR EV. In fact, I suggested the idea SOLR EV to a friend of mine at the Unitarian church I go to after she bought a 2018 Chevy Bolt and paired it with the home solar system she already had on her home’s roof. She ended up snagging the vanity plate SOLR EV for Colorado. That means I could have snagged SOLR EV four years earlier
I got the idea for SOLR EV from an Oregon license plate I had seen online. Since we often get ideas/inspiration from other people, I thought: Why not create an entry here on SolarChargedDriving.Com with a set of pictures of solar + EV vanity license plates — something we’ve already done PLUS a list of all the different solar + EV vanity license plate ideas that I can think of.
Ideally, you readers would add to our list of solar EV vanity plates in the comments below this story — although I know that for the past two years or so, most people do not post in comments below articles, but on Facebook and Twitter instead. Maybe post below this story, here on SolarChargedDriving.Com, just this one time.
