Lyle Dennis, founder of GM-Volt.Com and arguably the world’s most famous Volt consumer, offically has his dream car, a 2011 Chevy Volt.
Dennis, who SolarChargedDriving.Com profiled about a month ago, received Volt No. 8 off the GM Detroit-Hamtramck assembly line on Dec. 17.
In fact, for awhile, the long-time Volt and plug-in advocate will have two Volts in his driveway. He’s part of a 15-member “Customer Advisory Board” which is helping GM further fine-tune future releases of the Volt and has been driving a loaner Volt for more than a month now.
Dennis says he’ll keep his own Volt under a cover in his garage until he returns the Volt he’s been driving as a member of GM’s CAB.

“Though I have been driving a test fleet car for the past month, there is something far more special about taking true possession of the car I have been promoting, following, studying, and writing about for the past four years. This car is truly my car in more ways than one,” writes Dennis in an entry on GM-Volt.Com.
Dennis will lease the Volt for three years with an option to buy it at the end of the lease term.
While Dennis is clearly ecstatic to receive his own Volt, he ultimatley focuses on the bigger picture — helping the Volt become a national success — in his GM-Volt.Com entry on getting the Volt.
“The Volt is finally here and in the coming days, weeks, and months thousands of Americans will joyfully be driving them through the roads of America, collectively beginning the transformational process of weaning our country off of oil,” he writes.
