Connecticut gets new solar EV charging station

ctWestport, Conn. has a new solar-powered EV charging station.

Elektron Solar, of Westport, and New Fairfield-based Sun Electric have installed two electric vehicle charging stations at a Post Road East commercial building that draw energy from 109 solar panels on the roof. The 26 kW installation was part of a renovation of the 22,560-square-foot building owned by Frisa I LLC.

“Not only is the electric vehicle/solar combination great for the environment and the local community, it’s smart business, it helps control our energy costs and makes the building a more attractive location for employees and tenants,” David Friezo, a Westport resident and managing member of Frisa I told the Westport News.

The solar EV charging stations are for building employees and patrons only.

Tony Eason, owner of Elektron Solar, said the charging stations outside the building at 495 Post Road East are the first ones in the town of Westport.

As SolarChargeDriving.Com reported a few months ago, Westport is scheduled to get more solar-powered EV charging stations at the townā€™s commuter rail station sometime this year.
