Solar Expo snags Chelsea Sexton as speaker

chelsea-sexton-ev1-bWe have to admit toward being partial toward Chelsea Sexton, perhaps best know for her starring role in Chris Paine’s hit documentary “Who Killed the Electric Car?”

Sexton’s smart, articulate, a great writer and an outstanding advocate for plug-in vehicles. And, of course, last year, she agreed to do a Q&A with SolarChargedDriving.Com in what has become the most read article on our web site over the past year.

While plug-ins are very definitely Sexton’s main gig, the fact that plug-ins can be powered by a variety of fuel sources, all of them domestic and some of them renewable, also very definitely doesn’t escape the star of “Who Killed the Electric Car?”

We’re not sure if she’d want to be called a renewable energy proponent, but Sexton gets more points from us here at SolarChargedDriving.Com for a recently announced upcoming gig she’ll be doing.

“Consumers have more options than ever, both in plug-in vehicles and how to power them. Events like the Solar and Wind Expo provide an opportunity for people to get the most current information and make the most of those choices.”

Sexton has confirmed that she will be the keynote speaker at the 2nd annual Solar and Wind Expo at the Timonium Fairgrounds in Maryland May 14, 2011.

Sexton is a veteran clean transportation and energy advocate. Her work on General Motorsā€™ EV1 program was featured in the Sony Pictures Classics film, ā€œWho Killed the Electric Car?ā€ She went on to serve as Director of the Automotive X PRIZE, Senior Advisor to VantagePoint Venture Partnersā€™ Cleantech practice, and co-founder of Plug In America, the largest consumer-oriented electric drive advocacy group. More recently, she founded the Lightning Rod Foundation, an advisory and educational organization. Additionally, Chelsea is a Consulting Producer on Chris Paineā€™s next film, ā€œRevenge of the Electric Car.ā€

“Consumers have more options than ever, both in plug-in vehicles and how to power them,” said Sexton. “Events like the Solar and Wind Expo provide an opportunity for people to get the most current information and make the most of those choices.”

ā€œI will no doubt include talk of the next film in my keynote presentationā€ she added.

The Solar and Wind Expo received accolades from Expo attendees and exhibitors in May 2010 when it featured another of Plug In America’s founders, Paul Scott, along with Bob Dixson the well known Mayor of Greensburg, Kan. which was decimated by an F5 tornado and rebuilt using exclusively alternative energy and green construction.
