The U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) now has a second Envision Solar International Solar Tree array at its Vehicle Testing and Integration Facility. Envision completed the installation of the solar EV charging canopy at NREL's Golden, Colo. facility in mid-April.

"I'm proud that we have been chosen again by NREL. They are delighted the Solar Tree deployment went so quickly and without any typical construction problems," stated Desmond Wheatley , Chief Executive Officer, Envision Solar.

Indiana has a new solar EV charging station -- complete with quick charging and battery storage.

Eaton, a diversified power management company, has partned with renewz sustainable solutions, which develops and delivers solar carport projects, to install an Integrated Power Solution (IPS) solar carport at the Simon Property Group Clay Terrace Mall, in Carmel, Ind.

The solar-powered EV charging carport is designed to provide enough renewable energy to power an EV fleet for 25 years and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 230 tons.

Three and a half years ago when we launched SolarChargedDriving.Com, solar-charged EV canopies were few in number in North America and the pace of their installation was slow.

Today, they’re going up everywhere (see our exclusive map of solar EV charging canopies).

The YouTube video embedded above, which shows the installation of a solar EV charging canopy at Baka Mobile headquarters in Toronto --- and which was posted to YouTube in November 2012, is just one example of the many new solar EV charging stations going up in North America.

Okay, so the video above is a bit PR-ie (as in public relations-ie). But it's still worth a look if you're into chronicling and making note of the ever growing number of solar EV charging canopy stations in the United States, including more than a few in highly visible and public places such as where the one highlighted in this YouTube video is: The San Diego Zoo.

By our count -- and we know we do not have all of the solar EV charging canopies/solar-powered EV charging stations in the U.S. on our map -- there are several more of these stations in equally public places.
