The Honda Fit EV sounds like a fantastic little car.
Too bad you, I, and almost no one else is going to be able to get their hands on one.
The little EV that could and then some – the EPA recently rated it at the equivalent of 118 mpg and gave it an 82 mile range, nine miles further than the Nissan LEAF – will only be available to a select few in California, Oregon and, eventually, the East Coast.

In fact, Honda has indicated that only about 1,100 Fit EVs will ever hit the road, and all of these as leased vehicles. No one will be able to buy one.
What a shame.
Those of us who’ve ever owned a Honda – I’ve been driving the same 1992 Acura Integra for more than 20 years now – know that Honda makes good cars. And a lot of us would definitely buy a Honda EV.
If only Honda would let us.
