phillips-chevy-solar-ev-canopyAs the picture above – which shows a new solar-powered, eight-station EV charging station being constructed at Phillips Chevrolet in Frankfort, Illinois — attests, the number of solar-powered EV charging stations in the U.S. is rising rapidly.

In fact, it may have already hit the 100 mark, though we’ve only managed to map about 70 on SolarChargedDriving.Com’s exclusive map of solar-powered plug-in stations.

As we noted in an article we ran about six months ago, GM is one of the major drivers behind the current growth in solar EV canopies in the United States.

Some day – hopefully sooner rather than later – the U.S. will be dotted by tens of thousands of solar EV charging stations such as this one, including, of course, one of the best sorts of solar EV charging stations there is, at least from an individual consumer perspective – the home solar rooftop solar EV charging station.
