Solar roadway a step closer to becoming reality

Idaho Engineer Scott Brusaw’s Solar Roadway, which we first wrote about here about six months ago, is closer to becoming a reality.

Brusaw now has a prototype up in the Idaho warehouse where he and a team of engineers are working on constructing a roadway that, at its core, consists of solar cells and glass. The aim: To use America’s millions of miles of roadway as a primary means for producing its electricity.

ā€œThe idea is to replace all current petroleum-based asphalt roads, parking lots, and driveways with Solar Road Panelsā„¢ that collect and store solar energy to be used by our homes and businesses,” explains Brusaw.

SolarRoadWays, in conjunction with the documentary film producer YERT, has recently released a new video (above) on YouTube which shows the world the new prototype. Check it out — it’s pretty cool!
